Therapeutic Relationship

During my time observing occupational therapists, I had not heard of the word "therapeutic use of self" but turns out I had seen it being used before. All of the OTs I watched were using their own personality, humor, clinical experience and relationship they had built with each client, to guide the practice everyday. The therapeutic relationship seems like such an important topic for us to learn in school and I am glad we are learning it so early on. These are tools we will need to start developing and while we can learn a lot of it in a classroom, most of it comes from within ourselves and our experience as student OTs.
